An Edina High School student has been been released from the hospital after being hit by a car as she was about to get on a school bus on Thursday morning.
17-year-old Kyla Avant was getting on her school bus when police say a vehicle passed it on the shoulder and drove off, even though witnesses say the lights were flashing and the arm was down.
The family also says Kyla is expected make a full recovery.
Edina Police Spokesperson Kaylin Eidsness says it happened about 8:15 a.m. at France and Halifax.
Police say the car involved is a black Chevy Cruze or Malibu. “It sounds like a vehicle went around the school bus and hit the student. And the stop arm was out at the time of the incident,” Eidsness said.
She says the driver took off, and they are looking for a 2018 black Chevy Malibou. Police are asking that anyone who has information about the vehicle and its whereabouts or its driver should call the Edina Police Department at 952-826-1600.
