Former Twin Cities archbishop Harry Flynn dies

Former Twin Cities Archbishop Harry Flynn has died.  

Flynn led Minnesota's largest Catholic diocese for nearly 13 years, his resignation accepted by Pope Benedict XVI on May 2, 2008.

The native of New York State was bishop in Lafayette, La. before replacing John Roach in 1995.

The Roman Catholic archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis has nearly 750,000 members.

Officials with the archdiocese say Flynn died Sunday night.  

Funeral services are Monday at the Cathedral of St. Paul, with burial at Resurrection Cemetery in Mendota Heights.

Former Archbishop Harry Flynn was 86 years old.
