The pews of one of Minnesota's historic places of worship were empty, parishoners staying home
Twin Cities archbishop Bernard Hebda, in his Easter Sunday homily at St. Mary's Basilica in Minneapolis that was broadcast live on WCCO radio, remarked on how the day's circumstances were remindful of the day's celebration.
"As on person texted me this morning, ouor churches may be empty, but so was the tomb," said Hebda, referring to the story of the resurrection. "Ultimately, my brothers and sisters, we celebrate today that empty tomb and what it meant for all of salvation history."
Hebda told those listening that, as Christians, they can look past dark times.
"We have to be joyful, even in the midst of a global pandemic," he said. "We have to be able to give witness by our service, by our outlook, by our joy, that we believe that there is more to life than what we see in these days."
