Vikings safety Jayron Kearse was arrested early Sunday morning on suspicion of drunk driving and carrying a loaded gun without a permit.

According to Hennepin County jail records, Kearse was released Sunday afternoon after posing $6,000 bond.

The records also show Kearse was booked into the jail at 5:27 a.m. Sunday.

The arrest on a closed-off stretch of eastbound Interstate 94 near Cedar Avenue in Minneapolis comes as the Vikings are off following their Thursday night win over Washington.

The state patrol says Kearse drove around a construction barricade around 4:00 a.m. and was pulled over by a state trooper.

I-94 between Interstate 35W and highway 180 has been closed much of the weekend while crews were repairing a damaged bridge, with reopening scheduled for Sunday afternoon.

During the stop, the trooper reports that Kearse appeared impaired and it was determined that he had a blood alcohol content of 0.10 percent.  That is above the legal limit for driving while impaired.

The report from the trooper also indicates a loaded gun was found in the vehicle.

The Vikings released this statement on Sunday:

"We are aware of Jayron's arrest and are gathering additional information at this time."

This is the fourth NFL season for Kearse, who was drafted by the Vikings out of Clemson in 2016 following his junior season.

He has started in two of the Vikings' six games this season, and is in the last season of his rookie contract.

The Vikings' next game is a week from Sunday, Nov. 3, at Kansas City.
