Minnesota lawmakers are heading back to work Tuesday to start the new session.

Bonding will likely be the main topic of discussion in St. Paul this year.

The two-year budget was passed last year, and short-term funding commitments are expected to be discussed during this session.

That's possible because the state has a $1.3 billion budget surplus.

Governor Walz is proposing $2 billion in investments, with Republicans coming in at a lower number.

Another issue on the table, changing Minnesota's primary laws.

Secretary of State Steve Simon and a bipartisan group of lawmakers want to pass bill to protect the privacy of Minnesotans, who vote in the Super Tuesday presidential primary March 3.
