The president of Macalester College says a lot of reporting about the removal of St. Thomas from the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference was inaccurate.

In an interview with The Mac Weekly, Macalester's student newspaper, Brian Rosenberg was not specific but acknowledged inaccuracies are reasonable because the process was confidential.

St. Thomas was involuntarily removed from the MIAC earlier this year by the conference's school presidents, who discussed the issue in closed meetings.

They cited athletic competitive parity as a primary concern in a statement announcing their decision.

St. Thomas has dominated MIAC play in recent years, and since their removal from the league has been invited to join the Division I Summit League.

Rosenberg is retiring as Macalester president at the end of the academic year.
