Police say man found dead in Mpls fire died from other injuries

Police are investigating a body found after a house fire in the Phillips neighborhood in south Minneapolis.

Officers were called to the scene in the 2600 block of 13th Ave. South just after midnight Monday.

Fire crews found the body while extinguishing the fire.  

"He had injuries other than what would have been fire-related," said the MPD's John Elder. "The Minneapolis police department has initiated a suspicious death investigation."

Police remained on the scene overnight interviewing people and looking for witnesses. 

Nobody is in custody.

The man who was found dead has not been identified by authorities.
