For the fifth straight day, the Minnesota Department of Health is reporting more than 100 new coronavirus cases.
The figures announced Sunday morning show 2,356 laboratory-confirmed cases in the state, a rise of 143 from Saturday's figures.
The cases include 134 deaths, up 13 from a day earlier, with 1,160 people recovering from the illness.
With the fifth straight triple-digit rise in confirmed cases in Minnesota, the state is reporting 661 new cases since Wed., April 15.
"That's the worst week in Minnesota we've yet had," said HCMC assistant director of medicine Dr. David Hilden on WCCO's Health Matters earlier Sunday. "It's not there yet."
Dr. Hilden said tracking the new cases is a major indicator on how far along the virus has spread in the state.
"The new cases over a week or two have to be dropping, that's one really good metric," he said.
The health department came up with those numbers after completing 45,716 coronavirus tests at the state public health clinic, and private facilities like the Mayo Clinic in Rochester.
There are 574 people who've been hospitalized with COVID-19 in Minnesota, with 228 still in treatment and 116 in intensive care.
Marshall County and Morrison County both reported their first case Sunday.
Only 11 of Minnesota's 87 counties have not reported a laboratory-confirmed coronavirus case.
