Erik Hurtado scored in the match's 88th minute, giving Sporting Kansas City a 1-0 home win over Minnesota United on Thursday night.

Hurtado gathered in a pass from Johnny Russell, outracing three Loons defenders, and tipped the ball past goalkeeper Vito Mannone to send the crowd at Children's Mercy Park into a frenzy.

Even though the match was designated part of Major League Soccer's rivalry week, it hasn't been much of a battle between the teams in recent years.

The Loons have never won on the road at Kansas City, and have been outscored 10-1 in the four matches.

Next up for Minnesota United is the final of the US Open Cup, with the Loons taking on Atlanta United on Tuesday at Mercedez-Benz Stadium.

The Loons' next home match at Allianz Field is Sept. 15 against Real Salt Lake.
