There was more violence in Minneapolis on Monday, with a total of nine people hit by gunfire in three separate shooting incidents along with a fatal stabbing.

All of it happened in broad daylight.

“We are seeing violence increased at a time when our communities are already suffering trauma, and we do not need to compound that,” said Minneapolis police chief Medaria Arradondo. "The shootings are absolutely unacceptable."

There are no arrests reported in any of Monday's incidents.

Thursday marks one month since the death of George Floyd in police custody in south Minneapolis, with four former officers facing homicide charges.

At 2:34 Monday afternoon, four people were wounded on the 1600 block of Morgan Ave. North, and four more were hit by gunfire nearly two hours later on the 600 block of West Broadway. Just before 7:00 p.m., one person was reported shot near the intersection of 25th Ave. and 4th Street.

All of the shooting victims are adults and their injuries are non-life threatening, according to police.

“Many of these victims are members of our African-American community,” said Arradondo. “And I want to say this very clearly: their lives are not disposable.”

The stabbing death came around 4:30 p.m. on the 500 block of Nicollet Avenue, with one person also critically hurt in the attack.

This comes after more than 20 people were reported shot in Minneapolis over the weekend, two of them fatally wounded.

Police say over the past 30 days, shot-spotter technology has picked up more than 1,600 shots in Minneapolis.
