
A St. Paul police officer shot and killed a man during a confrontation Sunday in the city's Midway neighborhood.
The shooting happened just before 6:00 p.m. near the intersection of Thomas Avenue West and North Griggs Street.
According to a statement from the St. Paul police department, a man rammed the car he was driving nto a police SUV, got out of his vehicle, and "initiated a physical confrontation."
During the fight, police say the officer shot the man, who died at the scene.
There are reports the man came at officers with a knife.
Police say the officer was not hurt in the confrontation.
The officer was wearing an operating body cam at the time of the shooting, according to St. Paul police spokesman Mike Ernster.
The man who was shot is not identified.
The Minnesota BCA is leading the investigation, which is standard for an officer-involved shooting.
