Minnesota school superintendents updated on coronavirus status

The Minnesota Department of Education on Friday offered a conference call with the state's supertindents about the coronavirus.

"It's for any superintendent that wants to join in to have a conversation about the current status of what the department is thinking, if there are any recommendations beyond what we've heard to date," said Gary Amoroso, executive director of the Minnesota Association of School Administrators, appearing on the WCCO Morning News with Dave Lee.

Earlier this week, the superintendent of Wazata public schools sent an email to parents, assuring them that administrators have been in contact with the state department of health.

"We have been closely monitoring the situation," wrote Superintendent Chase B. Anderson. "We will continue to work closely with MDH and keep you updated."

Amoroso said the number one priority is to provide a safe school environment, a statement also relayed by Anderson to Wayzata parents.
