Minnesota senator Amy Klobuchar is withdrawing herself from consideration to join Joe Biden's ticket for president.
She had avoided commenting on the possibility of being chosen as the vice president until Thursday tonight on MSNBC.
"As I actually told the vice president last night when I called him, I think this is a moment to put a woman of color on that ticket," she said.
Klobuchar said there are many qualified women, adding that to heal not just the party but the nation, that's a "hell of a way to do it."
After George Floyd was killed, some progressive voters criticized Klobuchar's record as a Hennepin County prosecutor.
