A 53-year old man has been charged with two counts of second degree murder in connection with the shooting deaths of his estranged partner and her son in Anoka County.
Irving Van Marsaw is accused of killing 44-year old Jennifer Marsaw and her 5-year old son at a home in Lexington earlier this week.
Police say another child in the home called 911 after the shootings.
The suspect was found a few hours later after an intensive manhunt. Police say while in custody, he made several references to the shootings, saying they were done in the heat of passion.
Jennifer Marsaw's older son, Raheem Campbell, talked with WCCO-TV.
"Every time you've seen my mom, she was happy. She was," Campbell says. "It didn't matter what the situation was, she could have a dollar to her name, and she would still make the best out of it."
Records show Irving Van Marsaw has a long criminal history, having been arrested several times over the last 20-years on domestic violence charges involving different women.
