A guilty plea from the owner of a Twin Cities landscaping company after a fatal crash last summer that claimed the lives of two Shoreview women.

On July 8, 2018, 34 year old Joe Czeck of Hastings was driving his company's truck near Rich Valley Boulevard and 125th Street in Rosemount, when a thousand-pound boulder fell from the vehicle's bed.

The boulder crashed into nearby car, killing 67-year-old Karen Christiansen and her 32 year old daughter Jena.

Surveillance video from nearby businesess showed that Czech did not stop at the scene, but about a mile away did pull over to secure other boulders in the truck.

Czeck did not report the incident and was arrested at his home in Inver Grove Heights two days after it happened.

According to the plea deal, Czeck will serve ten months in prison over two separate terms and he'll take part in a "sentence to serve" program.

Sentencing is January 17.
