COVID-19 Test

For the sixth straight day, the state health department is reporting more than 100 new coronavirus cases in Minnesota.

The total of 2,470 laboratory-confirmed cases as of Monday includes 143 deaths, an increase of nine from Sunday, and 1,202 recoveries.

Over the previous 24 hours, 114 new cases were reported.

Since Wednesday, April 15, there have been 775 new COVID-19 cases in the state, by far the worst stretch since the Minnesota's first case was confirmed on March 6.

Dr. David Hilden, appearing on his weekly WCCO show "Healthy Matters," said this shows that the outbreak hasn't peaked in the state.

"It's not there yet," he said.

The daily update shows 237 people still hospitalized, 126 of them in intensive care.

With Chippewa County in west-central Minnesota reporting its first case on Monday, coronavirus is now found in all but ten of the state's 87 counties.

The results come from 46,850 tests completed by the state public health laboratory and private facilities like the Mayo Clinic in Rochester.
