A Saint Paul woman faces multiple charges including attempted second-degree murder after police say she threw her 11-year-old autistic son off a fourth-floor balcony.

In the criminal complaint released Wednesday morning, investigators said Itayvia Lloyd, 33, took the boy out of a bunk bed and threw him off the balcony. According to the complaint, Lloyd's 6-year-old son told police that Lloyd and his stepmom, identified as LK, were fighting at the time the boy was thrown.

In an interview with police, Lloyd told police the 11 year old boy is non-verbal and that a fight with LK case made her enraged and caused her to "snap". Lloyd said she remembered entering the 11-year-old's room and that it was possible that she pushed her son off the balcony. Lloyd added that she said she wasn’t in her right state of mind.

She said she had been struggling with drinking and had been under a lot of stress.

Later in the interview, investigators asked Lloyd if she let her rage out on her son because of his disabilities. Lloyd replied, "Yes, it's safe to say that."

The complaint goes on to say that when asked if she was trying to kill the child.

Lloyd responded saying, "Yes, but I want my baby here."

Along with the attempted murder charge, Lloyd's also been charged with two counts of assault on a peace officer, allegedly punching one and spitting on another.
