St. Anthony apartment complex blaze ruled suspicious

An early morning fire in St. Anthony is believed to have been intentionally set, according to investigators.

First responders arrived to the Equinox Apartments in the 2800 block of Silver Lane in St. Anthony at 2:46 Friday morning and found a fire on the third floor hallway of the three story complex. Residents were evacuated and an adult female and her small child were safely removed from the effected apartment. An occupant of one adjacent unit was rescued from a third floor balcony and several others were escorted out to safety.

Paramedics evaluated several residents and first responders for smoke and heat related concerns however no injuries were reported.

Friday afternoon the fire was ruled as suspicious. The Minnesota State Fire Marshal’s Office, the Hennepin County Crime Lab, and St. Anthony Police and Fire are working to determine the cause.

St. Anthony police chief, Jon Mangseth, declined to provide additional details about the fire.
