Two passengers who landed at MSP yesterday are being told to self quarantine for fear of being exposed to Coronavirus.
The state health department says the two people were evaluated while still on their inbound plane and determined not to have symptoms, but were still told to self quarantine for two weeks.
They were traveling with a third person who did have syptoms of COVID-19.
"The person that they were in contact with had symptoms, was taken to a health care facility (in Europe), was tested, and was found to actually be infected with (COVID-19)," said Dr. Rich Danila, with the Minnesota Department of Health.
That person was also scheduled to fly back to the Twin Cities, but was not allowed to do so. MDH would not confirm if that person is a Minnesota resident. They would also not confirm which country they people in question were in, although Italy is one of the countries with a severe outbreak of coronavirus.
Only if symptoms develop will they then be tested for the COVID-19. At that point, others who were on the plane would be notified, according to the health department.
So far, there are no confirmed cases of the coronavirus in Minnesota. 13 people have been tested, with at least eight more tests taking place Wednesday.
