Gov. Tim Walz could announce as soon as Tuesday a reintroduction of elective surgeries.
Elective doesn’t mean optional and many folks have had to put serious operations on hold.
“I am leading to it,” Walz said. “There is going to be an expansion of elective surgeries and it’s how that will roll out.”
Walz said it was the industry that advocated for restricting elective surgeries to ration scarce personal protective equipment. According to figures from the state, staying at home has bought the time to solidify those supplies.
“One of the reasons was, this was fairly complex,” he said “I want to than the folks, I think I heard this morning on our call that over the weekend they dug through 1,100 comments...and we had that open for public comment, especially looking at healthcare, dental, those kinds of things.”
The details will include how dental fits in.
Around 20 states have reinitiated elective surgeries with another handful restarting in the next few weeks.
