Wounded Waseca police officer out of ICU

A Waseca police officer recovering from a gunshot wound to the head is out of Intensive Care and spent the weekend at a different hospital.  

According the family's CaringBridge website, officer Arik Matson was moved to a longer-term acute care facility.

Matson, 32, was shot on January 6 while tracking down a suspicious person in a Waseca neighborhood.  

The man police say fired at Matson, 37-year-old Tyler Robert Janovsky, makes a court appearance Tuesday in Waseca County.  

Janovsky, who was shot by police during the confrontation and suffered non-life-threatening wounds, is charged with three counts of first-degree attempted murder.
