A scary situation in Coon Rapids, where police say a stranger grabbed a teenage girl who was skateboarding Friday morning, June 21.

According to Coon Rapids Police, the 16-year old girl was skateboarding on a path near Coon Rapids Boulevard and the Coon Rapids Boulevard Extension.  She told police she could sense that someone was behind her and then suddenly she was grabbed and pulled into the nearby woods.  She says the suspect sprayed her with pepper spray as he tried to attack her.

The teen was able to scream and kick the suspect and eventually was able to free herself.  The suspect ran off into the woods.

Multiple law enforcement agencies responded to try and find the suspect.  A K9 and drone were used to search the area.  At this point, the man has not been caught.

"These types of things are rare," Coon Rapids Police Capt. Tom Hawley said. "To have a stanger-type attempted abduction like this, an assault, is just extremely rare. Most assaults are by acquiantances or people that know each other. In recent memory we've had nothing like this occur in our community."

He is described as white, mid-30's, thin build, with black hair and lower profile beard.  He was wearing a black Adidas sweatshirt with grey sleeves and dark sweatpants.
