The fans and championship trophy are going home after last night's men's championship game -- and so are all the Final Four remnants in downtown Minneapolis.

The stage, Ferris wheel, broadcast equipment and large bracket are all being torn down along Nicollet Mall after an exciting weekend packed with locals and visitors alike.

Some workers are going on very little sleep, like Ken Highberger who's overseeing broadcast equipment with SOS Global Express.

"Oh I was up until 3," he said. "Let's see, I got two hours (of sleep) so I was up until 5 something this morning."

Some of the broadcast equipment is going to New York for CBS, Atlanta for Turner, or the Masters for ESPN, so he has to stay organized. He says crews packed five trucks and two semis after the game ended. Highberger expects to work through Tuesday evening.

It's a very busy clean-up day for the dozens of workers because a quick turnaround is necessary, says Neil Werries, an assistant production manager with Solomon Group.

"You only have so much time to complete the task," he said, "and the city needs to get back to its regular business the next day, so we try to make it happen as quickly as possible and safely."

Werries says the city and guests made their job of getting the stage down Tuesday afternoon easier.

"The city's been extremely generous," he said. "Everyone's been really kind. The vendors of all the services we solicited have all been super nice. It's a super clean city. This morning we came here and there was no trash anywhere. People take of this place and it's been a genuinely great experience working with everybody here."
