Police have made an arrest following a deadly shooting in downtown Minneapolis early Monday.

One person died during the shooting, while another is in critical condition at Hennepin County Medical Center, according to MPD officials.

Police say both shooting victims are adult men.

The shooting happened in an alleyway behind the Gay 90's nightclub near 5th and Hennepin.

The call came in as a double shooting around 2:20 a.m., right after closing time for bars in that area.

"Witnesses pointed out a shooter, officers attempted to stop that person, that person fled on foot," said the MPD's John Elder. "Officers engaged in a foot pursuit and were able to take that person in custody."

The shooting happening within a block of MPD's First precinct headquarters.

The suspect remains in the Hennepin County jail on probable cause of murder.

This is the 13th reported homicide this year in Minneapolis, according to Elder.
