Among the people who will be rooting on the Twins as they fight for the AL Central crown is Paul Molitor. The Hall-of-Famer and former Twins manager talked to WCCO's Chad Hartman Wednesday about how he continues to follow the team, and what the Twins need to do to hold off the Cleveland Indians.
"The Cleveland games will obviously be important, but they still have an opportunity with Detroit and Kansas City, even though the White Sox are improved. I think it's going to be interesting to see how it plays out. You know, I'm pulling for them. It's been a lot of fun, and people should feel good about what they're doing over there."
Chad asked Molitor if there's any bad feelings or awkwardness left over after Molitor was fired by the Twins after the 2018 season.
Molitor says he's past that, and that he still has great relationships with the team and new manager Rocco Baldelli.
"You know we've been out to some games, and I plan to continue to go out. Just the fact that I feel comfortable around Rocco and that coaching staff, and Derek (Falvey) and Thad (Levine) have both been very accommodating when I've been around. So, you know, I really don't think there's that awkward factor."
Molitor, who was American League Manager of the Year in 2017, had a 305-343 record in four season as Twins manager.
