A section of BNSF tracks are now reopen after a pedestrian was killed Monday morning in a collision with a moving AMTRAK train in Coon Rapids.

Early stages of the investigation suggest the man committed suicide, which Anoka County officials say is not an unheard-of occurance there.

"The individual, according to preliminary witness statements, was lying there on the tracks, they didn't seem to be there against their own will," said Anoka County sheriff's Lt. Dan Douglas.

"Unfortunately, in Anoka County, we see about one or two suicides per year by this mechanism," said Lt. Douglas. "It's very sad and tragic."

Reports indicate the collision happened about 6:30 a.m. on 85th Avenue Northwest in Coon Rapids.
