Delano's Peppermint Twist Drive-In has carried the tradition of serving of great food and a fun atmosphere each summer since the early 1980's.

"We come back maybe three or four times a summers," said lifelong Delano resident, Linda Schrode. "They've got the best fried onions and raspberry shakes."

Each order is freshly prepared and often enjoyed at Teddy Bear Park, which tables, chairs, Hoola-Hoops, and stuffed animals.

"We call it the Pepperming Twist compounds," Vicki said. "There's this whole area in the back where kids and adults are eating and just having fun."

Students are often hired to work each summer at the Peppermint Twist, which contributes to the family-like atmosphere.

"It's fun to see our employees grow and often come back with their own kids," Vicki said.

The Peppermint Twist is open Tuesday through Sunday from May to mid-October depending on the weather. Posted hours are 11 a.m. until 9 p.m.
