— CNN Politics (@CNNPolitics) May 6, 2019Minnesota drafted long-snapper Austin Cutting of the Air Force Academy in the seventh-round of the 2019 NFL draft, but under current mandate, all graduates must serve a minimum of two-years after graduation.
Via the Associated Press, Cutting spoke with reporters during the team’s rookie mini-camp last Friday.
“It’s not, ‘Okay the Air Force was done and now it’s time for the NFL,’” he said. “It’s decisions that are made above my pay grade, and they’ll help me along the way.”
The AP reports says that Cutting majored in management at the academy and will be responsible for purchasing everything from technology to heavy duty artillery for forces world-wide.
“Serving comes first,” Cutting said.
The Vikings currently have long snapper Kevin McDermott on the roster and as a late-round pick, Cutting would have to battle for a spot on the roster.
