State health department officials are apologizing for any confusion people are having in trying to get a COVID-19 test from their health provider.
"We are very much aware that this is still an issue. We absolutely want people to get tested when they need to get tested. The recommendations are absolutely that anyone who has symptoms and people that don't have symptoms, especially those that are told by public health workers that they had close contact."
Commissioner Jan Malcolm says they're also in dialogue with insurance companies after several complaints from people who have been billed for a COVID-19 test when they thought it would be free. In the meantime, she says anyone having a problem can file a formal complaint with the state health department or state commerce department.
There are 426 new COVID-19 cases in the state today, a decrease of 18 from Tuesday. There are 4 deaths today, down from 6 yesterday.
