
St. Paul Police Department responded to a shooting in the 1400 block of Minnehaha Avenue East just before 9 p.m. Tuesday evening.
Initially, when officers arrived on scene, they couldn't locate a victim.
Witnesses told investigators that the person who was shot had been taken away from the scene in a private vehicle.
A short time later, a man showed up at Regions Hospital with gunshot wounds to his stomach.
Doctors tried but were not able to save him and he was pronounced dead at the hospital.

A crime scene was set up by the Saint Paul Police Department Forensic Services Unit and a search of the area was conducted.
An hour later, investigators spotted a man matching the description of the shooter in the 1400 block of 6th Street East.
According to St. Paul Police, when they attempted to stop the man to talk to him, he ran off.
Officers chased him but say they lost sight of him as he ran around the side of a nearby house.
Investigators say they then heard a gunshot and found him down on the ground.
They believe he shot himself.
Officers rendered aid and called for Saint Paul Fire Paramedics to respond.
The man was taken to Regions Hospital and treated for a non-life-threatening injury.
Officers say they recovered a handgun on scene.
Investigators will be working with the Ramsey County Medical examiner to positively identify the shooting victim and determine his exact cause of death.
This is the fourth homicide of 2019.
