The Wadena County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a disturbing video circulating on social media of dog being shot and killed.
On Sunday, the Wadena County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a person finding a dead dog at Wadena County campground. The caller told dispatchers there were several shell casings around the dog.
After deputies arrived, they found the dog on the river with a collar and leash attached, but no tags.
On Tuesday, February 19, the Wadena County Sheriff’s Office began receiving calls of a video on Facebook showing an individual shooting the dog, later identified as Shadow, with a shotgun.
Investigators say the video shows an individual shooting Shadow one time and then another person kicking snow on him while laughing. The Facebook post included names of the people involved and deputies conducted a follow up those individuals.
On Thursday, the sheriff's office learned there may be a second video circulating showing the dog being abused with a golf club prior to being shot.
The case is under investigation, and the sheriff is consulting with the Animal Humane Society in Golden Valley.
