Rescue crews worked for several hours to free a worker who became stuck in a trench Monday morning in downtown Minneapolis.
The man became trapped on a construction job near the intersection of Washington and Park avenues, and officials at the scene say the worker is not hurt.
Crews from both Minneapolis and St. Paul were on the scene.
Minneapolis Fire Chief John Freutel said much of the dirt trapping the worker was removed by hand.
"We are unable to use all of our extracation tools, they work too quickly," he said at the time. "It's hand digging, and then shoring with air-bags and rigging."
Freutel said the area is unstable because of recent rainy weather.
