The X Games is back at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis for the third straight year with 200-plus athletes in 22 bike and board disciplines.
Action sports are becoming more mainstream and the X Games is the ultimate showcase of their athleticism and creativity. Skateboarding and BMX cycling are new additions to the Olympics next year, and this weekend is a chance to see likely medallists in person.
"The names that we've always celebrated and had at our events are now even bigger because of that," Ryan McGuinness, X Games director of event development, said. "Now's your chance to see them now because they're already doing what's going to get them to Tokyo."
McGuinness says the athletes bring their best tricks to the X Games each year.
There's also nightly concerts at the Armory, and X Fest outside the stadium with an interactive park, a ninja warrior-type activity, plus workshops.
General admission tickets start at $20.
