Chad Hartman: Amy Klobuchar drew an effective contrast with Elizabeth Warren on Medicare for All

Senator Elizabeth Warren entered last night’s Democratic debate as the new front runner, and she drew the kind of sustained criticism that typically comes with that role, with some of the more pointed exchanges occurring between her and Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar.
For News Talk 830 WCCO host Chad Hartman, the result was one of the best moments for Klobuchar in the race so far.
“I thought for the first time this year in a debate that Senator Klobuchar was direct, specific and instead of just making her points, she directed them toward the front runner, Elizabeth Warren,” Hartman said
Hartman thought Klobuchar was particularly effective in drawing a contrast with Warren on healthcare.
“Amy Klobuchar called her out and tried to show where she hasn't answered questions, especially on "Medicare for All," and this is a point where Elizabeth Warren is really struggling.”
Hartman said that he understands why Warren doesn’t want to say that she’ll need to raise taxes to pay for the proposal — he believes she fears that would give Republicans a soundbite they could use against her in a general election.
“I get the concept. She is saying that I don't want to put out a soundbite that the Republicans can use over and over again about raising taxes, but when you're systematically changing health care at a staggering number and you believe in it, you have to explain how you're going to pay for it. And to Bernie Sanders credit, he does that and Klobuchar was most effective in laying that out."
