The good news for this year's Gopher team keeps rolling in.
Two days after they knocked off #4 Penn State, and one day after they jump to #7 in the rankings (from 13th), two key players were honored by the Big Ten Conference with their weekly awards following Minnesota's 31-26 win.
Quarterback Tanner Morgan was named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week, while Antoine Winfield Jr. was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week.

Morgan completed 18-of-20 passes (90%) and threw for 339 yards and three touchdowns in the win as Minnesota moved to 9-0 for the first time since 1904. Morgan became just the second FBS quarterback in the past 20 seasons to have multiple games in a single season completing 90 percent of his passes (min. 20 attempts), as he also completed 21-of-22 passes for a career-high 396 yards and four touchdowns at Purdue on Sept. 28. Florida State's Jameis Winston is the only other quarterback to accomplish the feat, doing so during his Heisman Trophy-winning campaign in 2013.
Through nine games, Morgan has passed for 21 touchdowns, which ranks third in a single season. It's the most touchdown passes in a single season since Bryan Cupito passed for 22 touchdowns in 2006. Morgan has now passed for 3,501 career yards, which ranks 11th all-time at Minnesota. Morgan is 13-2 as a starter and has guided Minnesota to 12 straight wins, which is tied for the third longest winning streak in the nation.
Morgan's performance garnered a lot of national attention following Saturday's game.
