Target Field is adding another rock show to the summer slate, following the announcement of Green Day with Weezer and Fall Out Boy on August 11th.

Guns N' Roses are back in Minneapolis this July 24th while the Twins are on a long road trip to play for the second time here since they reunited with leadman Axl Rose.  The band played U.S. Bank Stadium in 2017, the first time in a over two decades that Rose played with his 80's-era cohorts Slash and Duff McKagan in the Twin Cities.

They then hit a number of baseball parks and other stadiums from July through August.  Target Field's show fits right into the middle of that schedule and is sandwhiched by shows in Boston's Fenway Park, and Chicago's Wrigley Field.

GNR, formed in Los Angeles in 1985, became one of the biggest bands in the world following the release of 1987's Appetite for Destruction which is the best-selling U.S. debute album ever, selling over 30 million copies.  Following more success with 1991's Use Your Illusion albums, the band began to fracture with guitarist and main songwriter Izzy Stradlin quitting in the middle of a tour.

There was almost no recording done between 1994-96, with tension between Rose and Slash leading to the guitarist "quitting the band" in October of '96.  The band sat almost dormant as far as recording and touring went.  A multitude of lineup changes lead to rumor after rumor of a new album.  Slash, meanwhile, formed and continued to play with Slash's Snakepit, Velvet Revolver, among other side projects.

Finally, in 2008, Guns N' Roses returned with Chinese Democracy, which was mainly a vehicle for Axl Rose and some hired musicians at that point.  Despite some positive critical feedback, it cost a fortune to produce and undersold expectations.

Then, to the shock of GNR fans, Slash announced in 2015 he was rejoining Guns N' Roses to play at the Coachella Festival in 2016, and that bassist Duff McKagan was also back.  A tour followed and the rest is history.

GNR was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2012, their first year of eligibility, and have sold over 100 million records worldwide.  Their legacy, of course, includes a lot of drug and alcohol abuse in the 80's and 90's which certainly played a part in the classic lineup's demise.  They're also well known for tardiness, starting shows late, or downright no-shows.

But, despite all of that, the band's popularity has never wained in their over 30-year existence, and the show at Target Field is likely to be a sellout for the "Sweet Child O' Mine" hitmakers.
