As the COVID-19 pandemic continues and vaccine rollout has begun across the country, it can be challenging to know when you're eligible to receive the vaccine before you make your appointment online.
Many vaccine doses are being given out in the United States each day, speeding up the timeframe for when all adults will be eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine.
During a White House press briefing, Jeff Zients, a COVID-19 response coordinator, said 26 states would open eligibility to all adults by April 15, reports People.
President Joe Biden set a goal of administering 100 million vaccines during his first 100 days in office. However, the administration has surpassed the plan and is now aiming for 200 million.
"With 200 million shots in the first 100 days, more than half of all adult Americans will have gotten at least one shot by April 29," Zients said. "No one even contemplated reaching this goal a few months ago. But it is now possible, because of the aggressive actions we have taken, to get more vaccine supply, more vaccinators in the field, and more places for people to get vaccinated."
Zients confirmed that as of March 26, 71% of people aged 65 and over received a least one shot. More than one-third of all adults had at least one dose. More than 47 million Americans across the country were fully vaccinated.
"We will need to continue to build on this progress to meet our new goal of 200 million shots in the first 100 days," Zients said. "And thanks to resources of the American Rescue Plan, we have the resources to scale up activity, fully implement this strategy, and put the pandemic behind us."
Zients urged everyone to continue to wear face masks and social distance while millions receive their COVID-19 vaccine.
