This week looks to a be a busy one at Target Field. And not because of Minnesota Twins baseball.
Noah Kahan takes the stage Wednesday night, with the Savannah Bananas taking the field Friday, Saturday and Sunday. All of those events are sold-out, at least through traditional methods.
Tickets would be available on the secondary mark-up, but expect to pay plenty. Friday night's Banana Ball game has prices above $200 each even in the upper deck via StubHub. Noah Kahan is worse. Much worse. Those secondary tickets are above $500 each on StubHub.
Minnesota Twins marketing director Brea Prokop tells WCCO Radio's Vineeta Sawkar it's a full team effort on weeks like this.
"We kind of shut down our baseball operations and turned into, you know, a concert venue or even a ballpark for another team," Prokop says. "But it's really a full day of loading for the concerts, and getting the stage set up, and all of the seating on the field."
It's a busy week at Target Field with a concert Wednesday and Savannah Bananas baseball starting Friday.
She adds it takes a full team effort to get the concert venue set-up and torn down in time to "play ball" again.
"We've got one day before we turn it around back to a baseball stadium for Banana Ball," Prokop explains. "And so, it's really 24 hour days, day after day, kind of getting the stadium turned over."
The next Twins home game is next Monday when the host the Baltimore Orioles, and kick off a long, nine-game homestand - with a catch. Next Thursday night's "home game" against the Philadelphia Phillies will actually be played in Iowa.
The Twins and Phillies are participating in this year's "Field of Dreams" game in Dyersville, which will be aired live on Netflix.
They'll take Friday off to travel back to Minneapolis, and play at Target Field again Saturday-Sunday. That's an extremely rare Friday off for the Twins before the Atlanta Braves come to town.
