The Cretin-Derham Hall boys basketball team has been quite a powerhouse over the last several years and the results are evident in this years NCAA basketball tournament.

Three former Raiders are currently on the national stage: Tre Holloman with Michigan State, Curtis Jones with Iowa State and J'Vonne Hadley with Colorado.

Cretin-Derham Hall Head Coach Jerry Kline is like a proud father.

"We feel very, very blessed and very amazed at these young men," Kline tells WCCO Radio. "And then also, obviously as players, with these institutions that they're at."

But what will happen if two of these players wind up facing each other? What then Coach Kline?

"What an awesome thing that would be," he says. "I mean, I don't know how many high school coaches could say you've got multiple players in the Big Dance, and then they get to have a chance to play against each other. It would be certainly a really cool deal."

Kline who says basketball has grown exponentially over the last 20 years thanks to great coaching.

"Players that go out and play at these places, they're developed and they're ready, they're stars in their team," says Coach Kline. "They're not just role players, which is nothing wrong being a role player, but they're also some of the main people on these teams and what we've been able to do, both genders and in the last 20 years, it's just absolutely been blown up naturally and it's pretty cool."

However, if this were to happen, it will need to wait until the Final Four.

All three players have advanced to the NCAA second round.

Hadley and Colorado edged Florida on Friday and play Marquette on Sunday. Holloman and Michigan St. have a date with number one seed North Carolina Saturday afternoon, and Jones and Iowa State will play seventh seed Washington St. Saturday evening.

As for Kline's current squad, CDH beat Farmington on Wednesday but fell to Wayzata in the semifinals. They'll get one more game when they face Eagan on Saturday afternoon for third place in Class 4A.
