The United States Women's National Basketball Team announced their spring training camp roster on Monday. Two Minnesota Lynx stars were given invites for the team.
Naphessa Collier and Sylvia Fowles will join the likes of Brittney Griner, A'Ja Wilson, Jewell Loyd and others in Columbia, South Carolina as they prepare for for the Tokoyo Olympics in July.
Collier, entering her third season for the Lynx, averaged 16.1 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists per game last season. She was also named to the All-WNBA Second Team in 2020 after winning the WNBA Rookie of the Year in 2019.
Fowles, entering her sixth season for the Lynx, will bring a physical presence in the paint along with experience and leadership to the camp. Fowles is coming off an injury-marred 2020 season, but has been with the Lynx for two of their championship runs in 2015 and 2017.
Lynx General Manager and Head Coach Cheryl Reeve will also serve as an Assistant Coach for the team, and will run practices while Head Coach Dawn Staley is coaching her University of South Carolina team.
The United States Women's teams have won gold medals in the last six Summer Olympic Games.
