Minnesota Wild goaltender Cam Talbot has been honored as the National Hockey League's "First Star" of the week after posting a 3-0-0 record.

During the three-game stretch, which included his team acquiring future hall of fame goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury at the trade deadline, Talbot posted a 1.33 goals-against average, .959 save percentage, and one shutout.

Talbot's contributions in the net helped the team advance to the second spot in the Central division and extended the club's winning streak to six games, posting an overall record of 40-20-4 with 18 games left in the regular season.

Talbot started in net against the Las Vegas Golden Knights on the same day that the Wild traded for Fleury, stopping all 28 shots for his 26th career shutout.

Wild General Manager Bill Guerin shared his thoughts on Talbot's professionalism following the trade with News Talk 830 WCCO's Vineeta Sawkar.

"I can not say enough good things about Cam Talbot. He is one of the classiest people I've met and not just in hockey, period," Guerin said.

The 34-year-old netminder has had an incredible stretch in his last nine appearances posting an 8-0-0 record with a 2.13 goals-against average and a .924 save percentage.

Overall this season, Talbot is 27-12-1 with a 2.80 goals-against average, .911 save percentage, and two shutouts.

As the Wild begin to lock in their playoff position, having solid goaltenders like Talbot in net is setting them up for success.
