Are you ready for some baseball? The Minnesota Twins certainly are as they get set for hosting TwinsFest 2024.
For the Twins, this is the "unofficial" start to the season.
"At its core, it's about celebrating baseball," says the Twins VP of Community Engagement Nancy O'Brien.
The party starts Friday with TwinsFest Live.
"It's an intimate, almost like you're invited to a player party," explains O'Brien. "It's a casual environment, entertainment-centric."
Fans will have an opportunity to meet many coaches, players, and Hall of Famers, including the latest inductee into the National Baseball Hall of Fame, Joe Mauer.
More than 65 current, former and future players and coaches will be on hand at Target Field for the festivities.
"What a treat for fans and for Joe to be able to have that moment," O'Brien says.
Signature Saturday and a Futures Clinic wrap up the fun before pitchers and catchers report February 14 in Fort Myers.
"We have a report on our internal website that always tells us how many days until pitchers and catchers reporting and it's 21 days," O'Brien told WCCO on Wednesday. "So this is a really great kickoff and things start happening really fast after TwinsFest weekend."
WCCO Radio will also be broadcasting Saturday at TwinsFest from 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. including a special interview with new Hall of Fame inductee Joe Mauer to kick things off at 11:00. We'll have other special guests from the current team, former players, and Twins' broadcasters joining WCCO's Chad Hartman, Vineeta Sawkar, Henry Lake and Jason DeRusha. Listen live on 830 WCCO or on the Audacy app.
