Dick Bremer's pitching arm and Joe Mauer's countdown to immortality are part of the home opener experience when the Twins play their first game of the 2024 season, hosting Cleveland the afternoon of April 4.

It'll be the first time Bremer has not been broacasting Twins baseball in four decades after he stepped down over the winter.

To honor his long and distinguished career, Bremer has the honor of throwing out the first pitch of the season at Target Field.

"It's real nice for Twins fans to salute the voice of our game for such a long time," the Twins' Matt Hodson told Vineeta Sawkar on the WCCO Morning News.

The Twins are also naming the Target Field television booth for Bremer.

Fans will also see a sign with the number 108 posted on the team's administration building down the left-field line.

That's how many days (from April 4) until Twins legend Joe Mauer is inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown.

The board's number will be changed after every home game reaches the middle of the sixth inning.

(For the record, there are 93 Twins games to be played at Target Field before Joe gets in the Hall).

The day starts early, well before dawn, with the annual breakfast on the plaza in front of Target Field.

"You can drive down 7th Street by the Twins store, you can walk on by, you can ride your bike, however you want to get by the ballpark," Hodson said.

Along with coffee and breakfast items, the WCCO Mornings News will be broadcasting live from the plaza during the early-morning event.

The gates open at 1:00 p.m., with Twins legends Tony Oliva, Kent Hrbek, Dan Gladden, and Tom Kelly welcoming fans in person, and the first 10,000 in the ballpark receive knit Twins beanies.
