According to Audacy Sports insider Jon Heyman, the Twins will be on the prowl for a new shortstop.

Carlos Correa has decided to leave Minnesota and sign a 13-year, $350M deal with the San Francisco Giants. Correa will reportedly receive a full no trade cause and have no options on the deal.

Correa, 28, played his first seven MLB seasons for the Astros before joining the Twins on a three-year, $105-million deal ahead of the 2022 season. Correa hit .291 with 22 homers, 64 RBIs and an .836 OPS in 136 games for Minnesota this past season before opting out of his contract to hit the open market for a second straight winter.

For his career, Correa is a .279 hitter with a .357 on-base percentage, an .836 OPS and a 129 OPS+. He had injury concerns earlier in his career but has been more durable lately, playing 148 games in 2021 and 136 this past season.

Correa spoke multiple times about his love for Minnesota and the Twins organization, but near the end of his only season at Target Field, said that he would need to be paid and compared himself to a high-end clothing store in a media scrum in September.

“I’m the product here, and if they want my product, they’ve just got to come get it.”

For the San Francisco Giants, they went and got it.

The Twins will now reportedly turn their sites to Braves shortstop Dansby Swanson.
