The Minnesota Twins Hall of Fame will grow by one member this summer as a Twin Cities legend has been inducted.
Joe Mauer, the former Twins catcher and first basement, will be the 2023 inductee into the Twins Hall of Fame. Mauer, born in St. Paul and attended Cretin-Durham Hall, spent 15 years with the Minnesota Twins. He retired after the 2018 season.
Mauer has widely been considered one of the best catchers to ever play the game. His consistent bat and steller defense brought him an MVP award in 2009, along with being a six-time All Star. Mauer moved to first base after concussions forced him from behind the plate.
The newest Twins Hall of Famer will also be up for baseball's Hall of Fame next year. This will be the first time he's on that ballot.
Tickets for the August 5th game and ceremony are available here.
