There's another departure for the Twins following the team's dosmal tailspin to end the 2024 season.

Out is Thad Levine, who was hired eight years ago to be the Twins' general manager and the right-hand man for baseball operations chief Derek Falvey.

This comes two days after the Twins announced that hitting coach David Popkins, assistant hitting coaches Derek Shomon and Rudy Hernandez, and infield coach Tony Diaz would not be returning in 2025.

Levine broke in as a baseball executive in 1998 in the Los Angeles Dodgers' business development department, moving up the ranks and becoming assistant GM with the Texas Rangers. He worked in that post for ten years before joining the Twins.

“I am grateful to the Pohlad family, Derek Falvey and Dave St. Peter for providing me with such a comprehensive leadership opportunity spanning the last eight years of my career,” Levine said. “The time is right for me to pursue my next enriching, professional challenge. I will forever cherish the friendships that I have made in the Minnesota Twins organization and throughout Twins Territory.”

According to a release from the Twins, Levine is leaving the team to pursue other opportunities both inside and outside of baseball.

“Thad’s impact on the Minnesota Twins cannot be overstated,” said Twins President, Baseball Operations Derek Falvey. “He has been a true partner and leader, always striving to elevate the organization and care for the people around him. Thad helped create a strong team culture, one focused on excellence and collaboration, that will continue well into the future. While we will miss his leadership, we are equally excited to see the next chapter of his journey unfold, and we wish him nothing but success in his future endeavors. I want to personally thank him for everything he has done to help us get better every day.”

This comes after one of the most disappointing Twins seasons ever, with the team falling apart over the last six weeks to miss the playoffs.

Falvey addressed the media on Friday.

The availability with Falvey was scheduled before the the Twins made the announcement on Levine's departure
