Twins make slew of roster moves ahead of Friday's game in Cleveland with names you know - and many you likely don't

Minnesota traded 11 players this past week as they completely revamp the roster in a lost season

Following this past week's fire sale of players by the Minnesota Twins, they are in Cleveland then Detroit for a six game road trip sporting a depleted roster.

That changed- somewhat - on Friday afternoon when the team announed they had  filled a slew of roster spots.

The team has recalled six players from AAA St. Paul including pitchers Travis Adams and Pierson Ohl.

Infielders Ryan Fitzgerald and Eduard Julien, outfielder Alan Roden, and utility player Austin Martin were also recalled.

Roden might be the most interesting name for fans. He was acquired via trade with Toronto Thursday as part of the deal for pitcher Louie Varland and Ty France. Roden has spent most of the season at AAA Buffalo, hitting .331 (40-for-121) with nine doubles, one triple, three home runs, and 18 RBI.

Then, the Twins selected the contracts of pitchers Erasmo Ramírez and José Ureña in order to add them to the active roster - these were players that were not originally part of the Twins 40-man extended roster including minor league players.

The players the Twins have coming to Cleveland are not without experience. Roden has some time in the big leagues with Toronto. Julien has seen plenty of time with the Twins as has Austin Martin. Ohl got his first start the other day against Boston and fared decently.

Fitzgerald has three - count them, three - big league at-bats. Travis Adams has thrown 12 total innings in the majors.

If there's a bright spot for Friday's game, All-Star ace Joe Ryan is on the mound for the Twins, one of the handful of regulars left after all of the trades. Obviously, the Twins are going to lean heavily on Ryan, Royce Lewis, Brooks Lee, Matt Wallner, Ryan Jeffers, Trevor Larnach, and other regulars that are still on the squad. Byron Buxton is still on the injured list as is starting pitcher Pabo Lopez.

The roster now stands at 25 players heading into Friday night's game with Cleveland.
