Target Field unveils its new "Baseball Heroes" mural honoring Black baseball legends.

The Minnesota Twins and the Minnesota Ballpark Authority officially debuted a vibrant new art installation Monday in the stadium's Main Concourse.

It was created by Minneapolis artist Antione Jenkins.

Jenkins says the piece celebrates influential black baseball figures with ties to the Upper Midwest.

"Personally, if you guys don't know, this project, it took us almost about a year now," Jenkins explains about its creation. "So it took a lot of work, going back-and-forth, to figure out the perfect plan to execute."

The mural features players like Torii Hunter, Earl Battey, and Jim (Mudcat) Grant, familiar names to most longtime Twins fans.

But there are also some other names you may not immediately recognize, or connect to the Midwest, like Satchel Paige, Roy Campanella, Monte Irvin, and Ray Dandridge.

Luckily for fans visiting the ballpark in the coming days, you can access interactive player biographies via a QR code integrated directly into the display, and learn more about the names on the mural.

"I'm very honored to have this be here and one of my, have my biggest paintings ever, I'm like shaking right now a little bit, but to have my biggest painting ever here in the Twin Stadium for me is amazing. And like I said, I thank all of you guys for being here to support me," Jenkins adds.

The mural is located at Sections 114-116.
