Fans of the Minnesota Twins who are always hoping to get a little more from their favorite baseball team will get just that this season, as the team is set to launch a new docuseries.

Peter Nelson, the video manager for the team, joined News Talk 830 WCCO’s Jason DeRusha in Florida to discuss the upcoming docuseries called “The Diamond,” which will be hosted on the team’s YouTube channel.

The series takes fans behind the scenes of Spring Training, giving a more in-depth look into how they prepare for the season.

Nelson shared that while he’s been working on behind-the-scenes video for the team since he joined them in 2015, it’s never been as big as it is now.

“Now we’ve been ramping up, and this year we are focusing on really getting a good look behind the scenes,” Nelson said. “Showing what the players are like on and off the field and trying to get some details fans might not know about these guys.”

In years prior, players haven’t always been as willing when it comes to sharing information about themselves or being open to being in videos, but Nelson says that’s changed in the last half-decade.

Now, Nelson says players will ask him for help, wanting to be included, which he says makes the content that much better.

“They come up to us and are like, ‘Hey, you got that video of me walking in?’” Nelson said. He added that they send players everything they get because he wants them seeing what his team is doing.

By working with players, Nelson says his media team has built a relationship that should shine in the content they put together this season.

“If they know that we’re making something they like, they’re all in. They’re going all in and letting us do what we want to do,” Nelson said.

Episodes of the docuseries are expected to come out every Tuesday on the team’s YouTube channel. While the first five episodes will focus on spring training, Nelson shared that they are going to “carry it into the season.”
