MINNEAPOLIS -- Pablo Lopez picked up his third victory and Max Kelper homered as the Twins beat the Red Sox 3-1 on Saturday at Target Field for their 12th straight win.

The last time the Twins won as many as 12 in a row was 1991 when that World Series-bound club won 15 straight.

The 1980 Twins team also won 12 consecutive games.

Lopez allowed one run over six innings, that run coming in the first inning.

After that, the righthander retired 14 of the next 17 hitters for his first win at Target Field this season.

Kelper's home run came in the fourth inning, and snapped a 1-1 tie.

He also made a key play in right field, throwing out Dominic Smith trying to stretch a hard-hit ball into a double leading off the seventh.

Smith hit a rocket to right that hit just below the top of the wall, but Kepler was there to field the carom and threw a strike to Carlos Correa, who slapped the tag on Smith.

Four relievers combined to hold the Red Sox scoreless over the last three innings, with Steven Okert striking out Rafael Devers with the bases loaded and two outs in the seventh.

Jhoan Duran struck out two and held down the middle of the Boston batting order in the eighth.

Cole Sands pitched a 1-2-3 ninth for his second save.
